  • Overview

    Collaborate with Senior Director-Merchandising, Greater China to maximize regional efforts for the markets.  Analyze trends and develop targeted assortments.   Receive and analyze assortment requests from local markets. Develop strong relationships with New York groups including Global Assortment Planning, Category Marketing, Replenishment Planning and the local market teams to help facilitate cross-functional tasks. Lead communication of new launches to markets and solicit feedback when necessary. Support Senior Director with category reviews, store visits and re-merchandising projects. Review and approve requests from Public Relations and Marketing.  Become an expert in Operational Merchandise support in Greater China markets and identify best practices. Coordinate the movement of merchandise in local markets as needed.

    Responsibilities

    Regional Assortment Planning

    • Partner with Global Assortment Planning, Category Marketing, and Regional teams to refine assortments for all categories in the region, reflecting key strategic initiatives, product sales trends, market dynamics and customer behaviors, and productivity objectives.
    • Collaborate with Global Assortment Planning teams to perform cyclical and occasional ad-hoc category reviews and adapt regional assortments.
    • Execute timely assortment reviews and confirmation for new product launches and document feedback.
    • Monitor inventory and assortment turn and proactively target opportunities to enhance productivity by streamlining SKU offering.
    • Collaborate with Senior Director to execute category reviews and re-merchandising projects.

    Business Support and Analysis

    • As directed by Senor Director, run reports and analyses. Identify shifts, trends, and opportunities and share recommendations.
    • Communicate issues to merchandising counterparts, follow up on projects and report back outcomes.
    • Complete ad-hoc reports when needed to support new stores, special events, and other activity.
    • Assist Greater China Merchandising team with conferences by preparing agendas, analyses, and other presentation support.
    • Perform periodic competitive analysis, share findings with regional, cross-functional and central teams as appropriate.

    Channel Management 

    • Act as a point of contact for store and merchandising operational teams throughout Greater China. 
    • Evaluate assortment requests and present recommendations to Senior Director or relevant group(s).
    • Execute changes when appropriate, partnering with Category Management, Demand Management, and/or Replenishment Planning as needed.
    • Approve all Marketing and Public Relations requests.
    • Partner with local operational teams to execute the movement of discontinued inventory into markets with the most potential.

    Store Planning and CVM Collaboration

    • Seek alignment across Merchandising, Creative Visual Merchandising, and Retail leadership teams in the development of merchandise layouts and adjacencies for designated locations.
    • Participate in onsite re-merchandising projects, new store openings or events when needed. Regularly visit store locations to ensure Styling Guidelines and Directives are adhered to and best-sellers are on display. Provide supporting guidance and/or training.
    • Maintain annotated floor plans detailing merchandise layouts and carry out periodic updates to account for new strategies and new launches. 
    • Support new store openings working with Replenishment Planning and local teams to ensure optimal product support at the time of the opening.
    • Monitor store opening trends and communicate needs and issues back to central groups in New York.  

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • 5-7 years of experience in a merchandising role within retail environments
    • College degree or related equivalent experience
    • Strong analytical skills and experience with in-depth reporting
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong diplomacy skills and ability to resolve conflict in a professional manner
    • Sound decision making skills
    • Self-motivated with a strong drive for achievement
    • Ability to lead in a team-oriented environment
    • Comfortable working in a highly dynamic environment
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Windows environment

    Preferred:

    • Experience in luxury retail
    • Ability to speak Mandarin
