Overview

Under the guidance of the Regional Merchandising Manager, the Analyst / Senior Analyst, Asia Pacific Merchandising will collaborate with merchandising and cross functional partners to support product initiatives across all APAC markets and relevant sales channels. This individual will leverage quantitative and qualitative market insights to contribute toward the development and implementation of assortment plans, product presentation/adjacencies, marketing priorities, and pricing strategies. Occasionally, he or she will also lend project management support and Merchandising Operations knowledge in key projects such as the set-up of new markets, new category or collection roll-outs, or major events.

 

Responsibilities

Regional Assortment Planning (30%)

  • Partner with Global Assortment Planning, Category Marketing, and Regional teams to refine assortments for all categories in the region, reflecting key strategic initiatives, product sales trends, market dynamics and customer behaviors, and productivity objectives.
  • Collaborate with Global Assortment Planning teams to perform cyclical and occasional ad-hoc category reviews and adapt regional assortments.
  • Execute timely assortment reviews and confirmation for new product launches and document feedback.
  • Monitor inventory and assortment turn and proactively target opportunities to enhance productivity by streamlining SKU offering.
  • Guide trade partner assortment and inventory plans and purchases to align with regional and global initiatives.

Channel Management (30%)

  • Act as a Merchandising point of contact for assortment or inventory-related inquiries from store management teams, trade partners and merchandise operations teams throughout Asia Pacific.
  • Partner with Replenishment Planning and other central teams if needed to evaluate and respond to assortment or inventory opportunities, requests and feedback.
  • Develop communications, merchandise analysis and product selection to support major events, key peak periods, new launches, new stores or other special projects.
  • Coordinate with regional and central teams to evaluate and facilitate major inventory transfers such as high jewelry collections or inventory pullbacks.
  • Perform store visits and organize conference calls or meetings to discuss business trends and related topics with store leadership teams.

 

Business Support and Analysis (20%)

  • As directed by manager, develop and run reports and analyses, both on a regular and ad-hoc basis. Identify key trends, risks and business opportunities and share recommendations for potential actions to be taken.
  • Assist Asia Pacific Merchandising team with conferences and regular meetings by preparing agendas, analyses, and other presentation support.
  • Perform periodic competitive analysis, share findings with regional, cross-functional and central teams as appropriate.

 

Store Planning and CVM Collaboration (20%)

  • Seek alignment across Merchandising, Creative Visual Merchandising, and Retail leadership teams in the development of merchandise layouts and adjacencies for all store locations.
  • Participate in onsite re-merchandising projects, new store openings or events when needed. Regularly visit store locations to ensure Styling Guidelines and Directives are adhered to and best-sellers are on display. Provide supporting guidance and/or training.
  • Maintain annotated floor plans detailing merchandise layouts and carry out periodic updates to account for new strategies and new launches.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in a merchandising role within retail environments
  • College degree or related equivalent experience
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with in-depth reporting
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong diplomacy skills and ability to resolve conflict in a professional manner
  • Sound decision making skills
  • Self-motivated with a strong drive for achievement
  • Ability to lead in a team-oriented environment
  • Comfortable working in a highly dynamic environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Windows environment
